Groups and Sequences

Use Groups to classify project material, Sequences to arrange continuous content, and nesting to build a project structure that fits your production workflow.

What they are

Groups and Sequences are both containers for project content. Either can contain more Groups, Sequences, Assets, documents, and Edits. A Group can contain a Sequence, and a Sequence can contain a Group. Choose based on whether the content is organized mainly by category or by order.

Groups

A Group works like a folder on your computer. Use it to collect material for one character, scene, task, or production stage. A key-elements Group can contain character Groups, scene Groups, and Sequences used to arrange shots.

Sequences

A Sequence organizes content in its intended presentation order. It works well for one story episode, a section of an advertisement, or a set of concepts shown in order. Each unit can still contain Groups for its final video, Edit, and references.

What you can do

  • Organize growing material by character, scene, prop, or production stage.
  • Arrange continuous content by story, shot, or presentation order.
  • Nest Groups and Sequences to express a complete project hierarchy.
  • Add a complete Group or Sequence to chat so the Agent can read a collection or continuous section.
  • Add a Sequence to an Edit and begin assembling media from its existing order.

How to use them

  1. In List, select + in the upper-right corner of Project Files and choose New Empty Group or New Empty Sequence. You can also right-click an empty area on Canvas.
  2. Name it by purpose, such as Character Design, Episode One, or Product Concept A.
  3. Move existing content into it. Add more Groups or Sequences when you need another level.
  4. Expand the item in List to inspect its hierarchy. Collapsing it only changes the display and does not delete content.
  5. When the Agent should use the complete container, add the Group or Sequence to chat and describe the task.

Tips

  • Use a Group when category, purpose, or stage matters most. Use a Sequence when order affects the story, pacing, or presentation.
  • Do not add a container for every file. Add a level when its contents need to move, be referenced, or be reused together.
  • Assets: understand the media organized inside Groups and Sequences.
  • Edits: bring existing content into a timeline.
  • Refer to Project Content: give a complete Group or Sequence to the Agent.
