Timeline Editing

The timeline is used to assemble the final video. The storyboard focuses more on narrative structure, while the timeline focuses on the timing of the final video: media order, clip length, pacing, volume, and audio-visual sync can all be adjusted in the timeline.

When to edit the timeline manually

When you already have usable media but want more precise control over the final pacing, open the timeline and adjust it manually.

Common use cases include:

  • Adjust clip order
  • Trim clip length
  • Replace the media used in a clip
  • Adjust clip speed
  • Adjust volume

If you want the system to assemble an initial cut from the storyboard, let the Agent generate the timeline first. If the issue is only local pacing, clip order, or volume, manual timeline editing is usually faster.

Timeline and storyboard

The storyboard and timeline use the same media, but they show and adjust the project from different angles.

  • Storyboard: describes the video structure and manages key elements, shots, global audio, and asset relationships.
  • Timeline: organizes the final video and determines clip arrangement, duration, pacing, and sound over time.

Editing the timeline does not automatically rewrite storyboard descriptions. However, if you replace a clip's media, the final video uses the new timeline result.

Use it in parallel with the Agent

You can manually review and adjust the existing timeline while the Agent continues generating other media. For example, while the Agent is generating the next batch of shots, you can refine the order or length of already generated clips.

If the Agent later reassembles the timeline, it may affect parts you manually edited. When there is a conflict, the system opens a conflict panel and asks you to choose which version to keep.

Usage tips

  • Make sure the storyboard and main media are mostly stable before doing fine timeline edits.
  • Let the Agent handle broad assembly, and use manual editing for local pacing and detail fixes.
  • Before replacing a clip, confirm that you selected the media version you want to keep.
  • Before export, preview the full timeline once to check pacing, volume, and visual continuity.
